Welcome to the new EMAC group website, now hosted on GitHub Pages. We’ll be posting news, papers, and updates here going forward.
The Energy Modeling, Analysis, and Control (EMAC) group is based at the University of California, Berkeley in the Energy and Resources Group. We address the engineering and techno-economic challenges to decarbonizing electric power systems.
Our work ranges from applied to theoretical. Much of our focus is on building new control and optimization frameworks to facilitate the operation of low carbon grids. We are increasingly working with large datasets — especially electricity consumption and solar production data — and building tools and algorithms to process and infer policy-relevant information.
EMAC is led by Duncan Callaway and includes undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs from a variety of backgrounds. We also collaborate with researchers in the Energy and Environmental Technologies Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.
